Moderate in Offenbach: escapism in the club

GIs there a more appropriate picture? On the backstage screen, hands and arms, white on black. The X-ray image changes to views of veins: this human innermost being visualized in the music by Moderat, which turns all bones and muscles from left to right and back again with rich basses and catchy melodies. The medical visuals are followed by “A New Error”, the track that has grown into an international club evergreen and has also had an impact in films, such as “Laurence Anyways” by the director’s prodigy Xavier Dolan.

The fusion of the electro duo Modeselektor, consisting of Gernot Bronsert and Sebastian Szary, and Apparat, Sascha Ring’s solo project, is moderate. The three of these perfectionist sound freaks are on stage in the almost sold-out Offenbach Stadthalle. A neo power plant? In any case, the Modeselektor duo stays on their synthesizers, Ring occasionally switches from his battery of electronics to the guitar and the microphone and pushes his high-pitched voice through the room, over the rhythm and melody structures that oscillate between breakbeats, techno, dub and downbeat.
