The documentary released by BBC called ‘India the Modi Question’ has led to many discussions. The documentary was made clear with evidence that Narendra Modi was directly responsible for the 2002 Gujarat genocide. The Indian government has come out against the documentary. The central government has banned the sharing of documentaries on social media including YouTube and Twitter. With this, BBC has withdrawn it in India. Meanwhile, the BBC said it would air the second part of the documentary on Tuesday, ignoring India’s objections. The BBC has cited evidence including Jack Straw, who was the British Foreign Secretary at the time of the Gujarat riots.

Jack Straw, who was Britain’s Foreign Secretary at the time of the Gujarat genocide in 2002, confirmed that the British High Commissioner in India had sent a report to the Foreign Office in London. He informed that it said that Narendra Modi was directly responsible for the 2002 murders in Gujarat.

Straw says Narendra Modi met senior police officers on February 27 and ordered them not to interfere in the riots. Straw has confirmed that the report he received said the killings in Gujarat had all the hallmarks of ethnic cleansing. He said he was very worried about it. Straw explained the matter in an interview with ‘The Wire’.

“I spoke to the Vajpayee government and External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh. I’m pretty sure I did. Can’t remember their reaction after 21 years. I am aware of India’s history of communal problems. So I was disappointed but not particularly surprised by the problems in Gujarat in 2002,” Straw said.
