Slovak tennis player Alex Molčan advanced to the finals of the ATP 250 tournament in Lyon. In the semifinals, he defeated the Australian Alexa de Minaur 7: 6, 6: 2.

Thanks to advancing to the finals, Molčan will certainly move into the top 40 of the world rankings. So far, his highest ranking was 46th.
According to the standings, it is certain that even in the case of the final loss, Molčan would still have the 38th place in the world.

The Slovak will present himself in his third final on the ATP circuit on Saturday, in which he will compete against the deployed unit, the British Cameron Norrie.
“It was quite windy today, but I like such conditions. They are the same for both of them, “Molčan said in an interview on the court immediately after his triumph.
“It was important to manage the match mentally and stay calm,” added the 24-year-old tennis player, who made it to the second final of this year without losing the set.


He did not enter Friday’s meeting perfectly at all, when he lost his first serve. In the end, however, he managed to break his opponent in the sixth game and both of them subsequently lost both of their passes, and it was only the secretary who decided the Slovaks won 7: 2.
The second set had a clearer course – the Slovak player was the first to get to the break and did not release a single one. In addition, he took De Minaur’s service at 3: 1 and the duel was over.
