Montauban. Wrestling: Julie Sabatié and Aurore Cabanne en or

The French senior women’s, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling championships took place this weekend in Schiltigheim. The delegation of the Montalbanese wrestlers’ club was made up of Julie Sabatié, Aurore Cabanne, Océane Gibert and Thibaut Billon, supervised by their club trainer, Patrick Sabatié. More than 200 wrestlers from all over France took part in this championship in order to obtain the title of champion of France which for some will bring them on the international stage.

Julie Sabatié, reigning French champion, was there because she surpassed her opponents by great superiority in each of her fights, granting her a new national title. This new medal for Julie, holder of the 50 kg category in the French women’s team should position her for the next international events. For her part, it was a great first for Aurore Cabanne, new to the club and who quickly learned about women’s wrestling. Sporty and known in combat sports such as judo where she has just qualified for the French team championships and in sambo where in 2019 she was vice-world champion in sports sambo, she still had certain bases. Despite everything, very motivated, she won all her fights by fall allowing her to climb to the top step of the podium. We will also note the good performance of Océane Giber, junior second year, who climbs to 5th place in her category. In two weeks she will participate in the French junior women’s championship where we hope to see her on the podium. These two French championship titles position the club in first place among French clubs in women’s wrestling.
