Berlin The work of educators or social workers employed by municipalities should be made more attractive through additional days off and financial allowances – also to counteract the shortage of skilled workers. The trade unions Verdi and DBB civil servants’ association and collective bargaining union as well as the association of municipal employers’ associations (VKA) agreed on this in the collective bargaining round for around 330,000 employees in social and educational services.

“With this degree, we have upgraded the professional field, and our colleagues will feel that directly in their wallets,” said DBB negotiator Andreas Hemsing. The negotiated collective agreement runs until the end of 2026.
