Most SUVs drive in this city

A good every fifth new car is an SUV: The ongoing trend towards beefy off-roaders has long shaped the image of our inner cities – but sometimes more and sometimes less.

Munich is Germany’s SUV capital. Nowhere is the SUV density higher, nowhere do the cars have more horsepower. And they are also more expensive than in the rest of Germany.

This is shown by a new survey by Verivox. The comparison portal examined all German cities with more than 200,000 inhabitants.

More than every ninth car in Munich is an SUV. On average, they are 185 hp and more than 37,000 euros expensive.

Berlin only mediocre

Our federal capital is in the ranking exactly what it is repeatedly held up against: mediocrity. An SUV share of 9.2 percent puts them in 14th place. And their output of 164 hp is just as average as their price (just under 31,400 euros).

The bottom of the ranking is Münster. In the bicycle city, only seven percent of all cars are SUVs.
