In recent years, Motorola seems to have abandoned the segment of ultra high-end smartphones. Nevertheless, the American brand, bought by Lenovo in 2014, could launch a smartphone with more than attractive features in the coming months.

As reported Android Central, the German site TechnologyNews has indeed obtained documents concerning a Motorola smartphone currently in preparation at the manufacturer. These documents make it possible to know more about its characteristics and the least that can be said is that the phone would benefit from particularly high-end characteristics, in particular for the photo and the recharge.

The smartphone, currently known under the code name “Motorola Frontier” would indeed be equipped with three cameras on the back. We would find a 50 megapixel sensor associated with ultra wide-angle optics, a 12 megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens and, above all, a 200 megapixel main sensor associated with the wide-angle camera. It should be, according to TechnologyNews, of the Samsung HP1 sensor, presented last September. As a reminder, this 200 megapixel sensor uses 200 million photosites of 0.64 μm side which can be grouped by four (1.28 μm side, 50 megapixels) or by sixteen (2.56 μm side, 12, 5 megapixels) to get brighter shots, better handling dynamic range and digital noise thanks to the pixel binning. The sensor is also capable of recording videos in 8K, still using pixel binning. On the front, the Motorola Frontier would be equipped with a 60 megapixel sensor.

A 125 W fast charge and a new chip

Regarding the internal characteristics, the Motorola smartphone would benefit from a still unpublished chip from Qualcomm, designated under the code name « Snapdragon SM8475 ». It should be the chip to succeed the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 next year. The processor would be supported by 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. For the battery too, Motorola would have gone into overdrive with a wired charging power of 125 W and a wireless charging of 50 W.

Finally, the screen would be equipped with a 6.67-inch Oled Full HD + panel with a refresh rate of 144 Hz.

It will still be necessary to wait many months before discovering this Motorola Frontier. The presence of a still unreleased chip from Qualcomm – which was not to be launched before the end of the year – suggests at least a launch in the third quarter of 2022.
