The Minister of Electric Power, Luis Motta Domínguez, spoke about the blackouts that have occurred in several sectors of Margarita, Nueva Esparta state, and indicated that the failures in the system "are not the responsibility of Corpoelec".
Through his account on the social network Instagram, the minister indicated that the interruptions in the service, which last 10 hours at least twice a day, are due to the "induced" explosion of a segment of the northeastern gas pipeline in the area of San Pedro belonging to PDVSA.
"When the gas does not arrive, the thermoelectric plants can not be activated and we are only providing service through the submarine cable. Generation by gas represents 60% of the electricity consumed on the island, "said the minister.
The also president of Corpoelec indicated that the Island of Coche has not been affected. "Once Pdvsa repairs the pipeline and exceeds the contingency, the service will be normalized," he said.
Through the social network Twitter, users rejected the statements of the minister, who on other occasions has blamed the animals for the blackouts, while the workers of the company claim that it is due to lack of maintenance.
Because the interruption has been generated for at least three continuous days, the Margariteños have taken to the streets to protest so that the Minister of Electric Power will solve the problem that affects the entity.
The failure in the electrical system has caused that the shopping centers, hotels and parks close, diminishing the production and tourist visit, factor that adds to the economic crisis by which the country crosses.
In this sense, for Monday, November 12, the neo-parties will be concentrated in the headquarters of Corpoelec at 10:00 am to demand the restoration of electric power.

Comrades! Compatriots! Neospartan brothers and sisters … Currently there are protests in some sectors of Margarita due to the interruption of the electric service, in this context I want to inform you that the failure that occurs in the Service, IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF CORPOELEC I repeat, IT IS NOT RESPOBABILITY OF CORPOELEC, since the failure is due to the induced, premeditated and treacherous explosion of a segment of the northeastern gas pipeline 36, GJ.José Francisco Bermudez, area of San Pedro belonging to PDVSA, which supplies gas to the island, as the gas can not activate the thermoelectric plants and we are only providing service through the submarine cable. Generation by gas represents 60% of the electricity consumed on the island. This situation does not affect the Coche Island because the plants run on diesel fuel. Once PDVSA repairs the pipeline and exceeds the contingency, the service on the Island will be normalized … A call to the inhabitants of the Island of Margarita, to maintain calm, PDVSA is making all the efforts to repair as soon as possible, the damages caused by a terrorist act of sabotage against Petróleos de Venezuela SA … Thank you! @nicolasmaduro @dcabellor @delcyrodriguezven @danterafaelrivas @ vtvcanal8 @ mazo4f
