Basketball star LeBron James from the Los Angeles Lakers said goodbye to the late club legend Kobe Bryant in moving words. James wrote on Instagram several times for a personal statement on the death of Bryant and his daughter Gianna. “But every time I try, I start crying again at the mere thought of you, niece Gigi and the friendship / bond / fraternity between us!” Gigi was the nickname of 13-year-old Gianna, who died on Sunday in a helicopter crash alongside Bryant and seven other people.
Mourning for Kobe Bryant
Before returning from the Philadelphia 76ers away game, he “heard your voice on Sunday morning,” James continued. “In a million years, I never thought that this would be our last conversation. What the hell !! I am heartbroken and devastated, my brother !! Man, I love you, big brother.” His sympathy goes to Bryant’s wife Vanessa and the three surviving children.
James, who is considered by many to be the best still active basketball player in the world, apparently feels committed to further top performances through the death of his idol. “I promise I will continue your legacy.” In the all-time ranking of the best players in regular NBA season games, James only passed Bryant on Saturday in third place.
Fans, however, paid tribute to the late basketball star by spontaneously renaming a New York subway station: “Fifth Ave / Bryant Park” they made “Kobe Bryant Park” with a sticker. Numerous people then went to the sign with the inscription and photographed it. Bryant Park in the middle of Manhattan is actually named after the US writer William Cullen Bryant (1794 – 1878).
Basketball fans also showed their sympathy in Germany: Before the basketball Bundesliga match between Alba Berlin and Hakro Merlins Crailsheim, the late US superstar Kobe Bryant was commemorated with a minute’s silence. The spectators in the Mercedes-Benz Arena rose from their seats, their heads bowed and the hall fell silent for a moment. Then there were loud “Kobe” calls and there was clapping. In commemoration of number 24 Bryant wore at the Los Angeles Lakers, the first 24 seconds of the game started without any action.
Kob Bryant is said to come to basketball hall of fame
After his death, Bryant is said to be inducted into the basketball’s Hall of Fame this year. “Kobe is honored the way it should be,” Hall of Fame President Jerry Colangelo was quoted by a reporter for The Athletic portal on Monday. “It’s expected to be the most epic class in history with Kobe, Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett.” Players can be accepted into the Hall of Fame three years after their career ends. In the same year as Bryant, the NBA superstars Duncan and Garnett also stopped.
The next game of the Los Angeles Lakers in the North American professional basketball league NBA has been postponed after the death of the club legend. The game against the LA Clippers scheduled for Tuesday (local time) will be rescheduled at an unspecified time, said the NBA. The decision was made out of respect for the club, whose employees and supporters mourned Bryant.
In Los Angeles, however, the investigation into the cause of the accident continues. Above all, the adverse weather conditions are taken into account.
