Arrested 2 or 3 km from the accident

According to the first elements of the gendarmerie investigation, entrusted to the Saint-Georges-sur-Loire brigade, the driver of the vehicle, returning from a sporting event, struck a scooter from the rear on which there were three youth.

He would not have stopped immediately but about 2 km or 3 km from the site of the accident. It was there that he was arrested by the gendarmes. When the latter carried out a blood alcohol test, it turned out to be positive. A blood test was also taken to determine if he was driving under the influence of narcotics. He would have indicated to the gendarmes “Not having seen the scooter”.

At least one youth was not wearing a helmet

When the gendarmes arrived at the scene, only one person was wearing a helmet. It remains, for the moment, to determine whether the other two scooter riders were also provided. One thing is certain, at least one of the three occupants of the scooter was not wearing one.

Investigations are continuing to try to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. Was the scooter illuminated at the time of the collision? Did the rider of the two-wheeler consume alcohol or drugs? Why did the driver finally stop several kilometers after the accident? The investigation is only just beginning.
