MrBeast overtakes PewDiePie as the most popular YouTube channel

MrBeast (24) has the largest individual YouTube channel. With 112 million subscribers, he surpasses the Swede PewDiePie (33).

For about a decade, PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, had the most popular account on YouTube. The Swede became known for making videos in which he commented while playing video games. As of this week, Kjellberg no longer has the most popular account. The new champion is the American MrBeast.

Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson published his first video in 2012, but it wasn’t until 2017 that he started to gain popularity. MrBeast’s films are known for the largest and most spectacular actions. For example, he showed hundreds of people Netflix series Squid game to give the winner nearly half a million dollars. Earlier this year, he also gave away an island and a private jet.

In addition to stunts, Donaldson also bets on charity. For example, he founded the channel ‘Beast philanthropy’ last year. Videos appear on it where the man has houses for the homeless or water wells built, among other things.

Together with Mark Rober, another Youtuber, he also founded two organizations that raise funds for climate problems. Among other things, he wants to collect money to have waste fished out of the rivers and oceans. With the other fund he wants to plant trees.

MrBeast currently has the largest Youtube channel that revolves around an individual. Yet there are other channels with more subscribers. For example, T-Series, an Indian music company, has 229 million subscribers.
