Almost two years ago it was still a concept, now it is being built! The official groundbreaking ceremony for the Mobiliar Pumptrack Sumiswald took place on Saturday, October 30th.
In autumn 2019, the initiator, Marco Della Ducata, began working on the concept for an asphalt pump track in Sumiswald. He found that such a facility would optimally complement the leisure facilities in Sumiswald. As early as February 2020, he was allowed to present his idea to the Presidential Commission and presented his idea with great enthusiasm. neo1 reported. Since he was able to convince the commission of the project, this was the starting signal for a further phase. The locally based bike dealer developed the project further and launched the IG Pumptrack Sumis-wald. In cooperation with the community, which provides the land, the right location for the facility was soon found and a sponsoring association, Sportland Sumiswald, was brought on board.
“It is only thanks to a great team and sensational support from the population and local companies that we can now start construction,” says Della Ducata. “Although we originally hoped that we could open the pump track in summer 2021, we are very happy that it is finally going to start,” continues Della Ducata.
The crowdfunding, through which the last amount of money was collected, can be completed successfully. The financing is in place and the building permit is available. The construction team will be busy for the next few weeks. The construction site will be cordoned off on Monday, November 1st and the machines will be opened on Tuesday. After that, the smaller kid’s track is to be built first and the large circuit later. Asphalt can only be paved if the weather permits. It is therefore possible that the system will not be completed this winter. An official opening will only take place after the spring break.
