Mylee Billingham's father slashed wrists in the prison cell after being filmed by a daughter he stabbed to death

An evil father who had murdered his daughter tried to take his life in jail after seeing pictures of the little girl before stabbing her.

Monster William Billingham, 55, stabbed his neck after attacking eight-year-old Mylee with a kitchen knife as she screamed, "Stop it, dad."

The Sunday Mirror reports how Billingham attempted to beat his wrists in his prison cell during his trial after killing Mylee in revenge against one of his ex-men.

The dad of six allegedly said that CCTV is alive with his daughter, sending him "over the edge".

In a letter he wrote: "It's a terrible time and the video of me sent me over the edge and made me hurt myself."

He even claimed that his only crime was to love his girl too much.

He added, "If it is possible to love your children too much, then I am undoubtedly guilty."

Billingham was convicted of murder at Birmingham Crown Court and threatened to kill his ex-partner Tracey Taudry.

On the night of the gruesome murder, he was found by the police with a "superficial" injury in his bungalow in the small town of Brownhills in the West Midlands, near Walsall in January.

The police described how the father "aroused" his anger at Mylee to annoy Ms. Taugry after she started a same-sex relationship.

But as the ambulance hurried to save the student's life, Billingham refused to help-or even name her.

Instead, he simply told the officer "COPD" – regarding a lung disease he suffered.

Slamming Billingham, Det Insp Jim Colclough said: "It shows how selfish he is, his daughter was fighting for her life and all he cared about was himself."

He added, "It's the most selfish act you can imagine, it's the biggest breach of trust that you can imagine as a father."

Earlier, Birmingham heard Crown Court threaten Billingham with killing Ex M's Taudry when she saw a kitchen knife fall at his feet on January 20.

But as she desperately tried to grab the weapon, she slipped and the father grabbed Mylee and pulled her into the house.

She said the front door slammed shut and fell silent seconds later.

Unemployed factory worker Billingham, reportedly injured in the stomach, spoke only about his own well-being when the police arrived and tried to revive his daughter.

He underwent surgery before being interviewed and charged by the police – and later he tried to cut his wrists as he waited for the trial.

The monster had decided to give no evidence, claiming he had no memory of how he would stab Mylee through the chest.

The jury conferred with Billingham for 80 minutes before being sentenced later on Tuesday.

Former friends described Billingham's "Jekyll and Hyde character" and how he could "turn around" after a drink.

One told The Mirror: "Bill could be a top guy in a minute and then just snap in. He likes a drink, but you never knew when he would turn around."

He also prided himself on being a "Cradle Snatcher" after starting a relationship with Tracey at 19.

After Billingham was convicted of murder, Det Insp Colclough said, "Mylee was an eight-year-old girl.

"She had every reason to believe that Billingham was the most trustworthy person in the world, to carry out an action and take over Mylee's life … it's awful."

When asked about his potential motivation for the murder, the lead detective added, "Tracey had started a new relationship, which is a relationship she was open and honest with.

"We believe that Billingham was not as happy with this situation as he had.

"Whether that was through jealousy … he decided that evening to take something in his own hands."

He also praised the officers who responded to the call first and said they had "shown genuine courage."

He added, "They were faced with extremely annoying scenes (with Mylee injured under her father) and everyone worked tirelessly to save them.

"The first responders were an absolute loan for their respective services."
