This image was captured by NASA’s Spitzer Space Telescope. A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust in space. The Godzilla-like nebula lies along the plane of the Milky Way in the constellation Sagittarius, which was part of the GLIMPSE Spitzer Survey (Galactic Legacy Infrared Mid-Plane Survey Extraordinaire).
How is a nebula formed?
A nebula forms when a star larger than the Sun begins to scatter and the solar wind releases gas. As it grows, the winds become more aggressive and smash into the pieces of the larger star, creating strange shapes.
