Nathan MacKinnon to be the highest paid player in the NHL

Denver –

From the 2023/2024 season, Nathan MacKinnon is probably the highest-paid ice hockey player in the North American professional league NHL.

As the AP news agency reported, citing an anonymous insider, the 27-year-old forward with the Colorado Avalanche has prematurely extended his contract, which expires after the coming season, by eight years to 2031 and is receiving $ 100.8 million for it. The club had not given any salary information in its announcement about the contract extension.

With an average annual salary of $12.6 million, he surpasses Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers. The teammate of Germany’s ice hockey star Leon Draisaitl signed an eight-year contract for $100 million in 2017 and gets an average of $12.5 million a year.

Canada’s MacKinnon had 45 goals and 67 assists last season and was instrumental in helping the Colorado Avalanche win the Stanley Cup for the third time, following 1996 and 2001.
