National Blood Donation Campaign

On World Blood Donor Day and for the anniversary of the Red Cross this June 10 there will be a national day that seeks to promote voluntary blood donation.

Within the framework of the 143rd anniversary of the Argentine Red Cross, founded on June 10, 1880, and for World Blood Donor Day, which is commemorated on June 14, a blood drive will be held to encourage people – who meet the necessary requirements – to donate blood. The activity takes place under the motto “Donate blood, save lives”.

What requirements are requested to donate blood?

As detailed by the Argentine Red Cross in its official announcement, to make a voluntary blood donation it is necessary to be between 18 and 65 years of age, weigh at least 50 kilos and be in good health. It is necessary to have the DNI when approaching the donation center.

It is important to bear in mind that to donate blood you must eat and hydrate well and have rested for at least six hours straight. In addition, you must not have had a fever or have suffered from any illness during the last week.

Those who have undergone piercings, tattoos, implants or endoscopies, indicate that they must wait 12 months to donate blood.

After donating blood, eat the snack offered by the donation center to recover fluids and sugar. Also, it is recommended to avoid carrying weight and making sudden movements to avoid dizziness, avoid alcohol consumption and drink plenty of water.
