These warriors have gone from hunting lions to protecting them

In Kenya, Samburu warriors save lions by harnessing the knowledge they used in the past to hunt them. Through a program called Warrior Watch, launched by the conservation group Ewaso Lions, the Samburu work in their local communities to protect livestock and foster coexistence between people and lions. The work of Ewaso Lions and Warrior Watch is supported by the National Geographic Society’s Big Cats Initiative. The National Geographic Society is working with Big Cats Initiative grantees to create documentaries that highlight the impact of their efforts, which are translated into local languages ​​and distributed throughout the region.
