Nazarbayev determined the composition of the new government of Kazakhstan
President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan has identified a new government. The corresponding decree is published on the website of the head of the republic.
According to the document, Alikhan Smailov became the first deputy prime minister and minister of finance, and Zhenis Kasymbek, deputy prime minister. Dauren Abaev was appointed Minister of Information and Social Development, Marat Beketaev was appointed Minister of Justice, and Yelzhan Birtanov was appointed Minister of Health. Arystanbek Mukhamediuly became head of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, Askar Zhumagaliyev, minister of digital development, defense and aerospace, and Kanat Bozumbayev, minister of energy.
At the same time, Beibut Atamkulov remained the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Nurlan Yermekbayev retained the post of Minister of Defense, and Yerlan Turgumbayev was again appointed the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Askar Mamin became the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, who served as head of government after its dissolution. The President also dismissed the head of the National Bank of the country, Daniyar Akishev, and appointed Erbolat Dosayev to take his place.
Nazarbayev dismissed the government on February 21. He explained this by the fact that the Cabinet did not cope with economic reforms and improving the welfare of the population. “Real incomes of the population do not increase. The share of food expenses in the family budget is growing, ”the president noted. He added that the funds that the government has are not spent on purpose.
