New episode “Stars & Talents by Leona König” on November 28th: ​​With violin virtuoso Lidia Baich and up-and-coming cellist Elvis Herndl

Vienna (OTS) With up to 359,000 viewers (an average of 317,000 with a 16 percent market share), the new, second season of the ORF series “Stars & Talente by Leona König” started last weekend in ORF 2. Episode two of a total of ten new editions of the format, which accompanies up-and-coming young musicians on their artistic path and brings them together with established greats of the classical genre is already on the program on Sunday, November 28th, 2021 at 6 p.m. on ORF 2. In it, the young talent and presenter Leona König, chairwoman of the International Music Association for Gifted Children (IMF) and initiator of the “Golden Note” classical music award, arranges a musical encounter between star violinist Lidia Baich and 16-year-old cellist Elvis Herndl, finalist and audience award winner of the “ Golden Note 2021 “.

The scene of this artistic encounter is the Vienna Palais Schönborn-Batthyány: In the state rooms of the baroque building from the 17th century the Galerie Wienerroither & Kohlbacher has been presenting contemporary art after 1945 for five years. While everything is being prepared for the little one in the red salon of the Palais Concert, which star and talent will give together, Leona König and Lidia Baich visit the current exhibition of the gallery.
The renowned violin virtuoso tells about her home with Heldentenor Andreas Schager, who was the protagonist of the first episode of “Stars & Talents” shown the previous week. In an interview with Leona König, she explains why the “Golden Note” is so important to her, as she was already on the honorary committee of the competition in 2017. The musician also talks about her childhood, her career, the time of the pandemic, her duties as a professor at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna and the combination of classical and pop music.
Elvis Herndl, born in Graz in 2005, has been a student in the cello class of Thomas Platzgummer at the Johann-Joseph-Fux Conservatory since he was four and since 2018 also in the gifted class with Andrea Molnár at the Art University Graz. The young Styrian, who has already taken part in numerous competitions, is currently attending the Dreihackengasse music school in Graz. In May he impressed with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Bumblebee Flight” at the “Golden Note” gala hosted by Thomas Gottschalk and Leona König. With “Stars & Talents” Elvis also shows himself from the private side and talks about his hobbies. In addition to playing the cello, he has another great passion:
karting. Leona König visits him in his hometown Graz, where they go to the kart track together.
At the end of the program, Lidia Baich and Elvis Herndl will play the demanding “Trio élégiaque No.1” by Sergei Rachmaninov with piano accompaniment from Filip Trifu, winner of the “Golden Note 2017” and finalist of the “Golden Note 2020”.

All episodes of “Stars & Talents by Leona König” are available up to seven days after the TV broadcast on the ORF TVthek or on Mondays, the day after the respective TV show, as video-on-demand via the ORF classic platform myfidelio (www.myfidelio.at) available.

The stars of the second season of “Stars & Talente” include not only opera singers and instrumental artists but also, for the first time, a ballet star. In addition to the sopranos Daniela Fally and Asmik Grigorian, the tenors Andreas Schager, Dmitry Korchak and Vittorio Grigolo, the violinists Lidia Baich and Yury Revich and the pianist Hyung-ki Joo, Davide Dato – first solo dancer of the Vienna State Opera – is the protagonist . The talents that take center stage are finalists of previous editions of the “Golden Note”. Christian Reichhold is responsible for the script and direction of the new season – a production by Stars & Talente Media GmbH in collaboration with TV friends.
