New James Bond: The Most Unlikely Candidates

Meanwhile, we do know which actors are the most popular with the public when it comes to succeeding Daniel Craig as James Bond. Below we take a look at the most current list from the betting site Ladbrokers.

At the top of the list are the three names Henry Cavill (2/1), Rege-Jean Page (7/2) and Idris Elba (4/1). But there are many more actors on the list and not all of those names seem equally logical. We even see the name Harry Styles (33/1) mentioned, but also Tom Holland (40/1).

Moving on to acquaintances, names of Henry Golding (50/1), Luke Evans (50/1), John Boyega (66/1) and Stephen Merchant (500/1) also appear. They are all not the first names you would expect to land the 007 role.

Mahershala Ali as James Bond
It is also striking that the name of Mahershala Ali (33/1) is in the list. Despite the fact that the actor has already won two Oscars and can act very well, it seems almost impossible that Ali will be the new Bond.

The reason for that is simple. The chances are very small that the producers will go for a non-British actor. The previous actors were Craig (English), Pierce Brosnan (Irish), the late Sean Connery (Scots), Roger Moore (English) and George Lazenby (Welshman).
