Consumers have been anticipating Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro models since the company announced the M1 processor in 2020. Fortunately, these customers don’t seem to have much time to wait.
As I saw it Bloomberg’s 9to5MacMark Gorman claims that the new MacBook Pro 14-inch and 16-inch models will be announced and released between September and November of this year.
There has been speculation about the announcement and launch date of the redesigned MacBook Pro for some time now, and many people anticipated earlier launch dates. In the reporter’s Power On newsletter, Gorman acknowledged that the laptops were due to launch earlier, but were held up by manufacturing issues with the new small LED screen.
“These new MacBooks were supposed to launch early, but complications surrounding the new miniLED screen have hampered production,” said Mark Gorman in his newsletter.
Gurman’s predictions match previous guesses by supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. ko he said that despite the mini-LED problems, the new Macbook Pro models will go into mass production in the third quarter.
In his latest research notes, seen by iMore Kuo, he says, “We reiterate our previous expectation that the newly designed 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro with small LED displays will go into mass production in the third quarter of 2021.”
The new MacBook Pro is expected to feature a completely new design, which is a strong bet given that Apple is notorious for redesigning its hardware after releasing a new chip like the M1 processor. In addition, the new laptops are expected to have small LED screens, remove the Touch Bar in favor of traditional function keys and reintroduce some ports in the Macbook Pro for the first time in years.
