New tram arrived secretly | Radio Dresden

The Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe received the first of the new trams around midnight. A heavy load transport brought the yellow train from the Alstom plant in Bautzen to Dresden. At the entrance to the freight center on Fröbelstrasse, the NGT DX DD tram was carefully unloaded and placed on the tracks in front of numerous onlookers.

However, the train did not make its first journey through Dresden on its own. It was towed to the Gorbitz depot by other trams.

From 2023, 30 new trams of the Dresden public transport company are to roll through the city. The new generation of light rail vehicles are more than 43 meters long and at 2.65 meters a good 35 cm wider than their predecessors. This means that there is space for up to 300 passengers in the new tram. Other innovations are WLAN and new air conditioning systems.

The “newcomer” is to be presented to the public at the beginning of October. As a DVB spokesman told us, the train should be open to visitors on the first weekend in October. Current information will follow.
