Six protesters from the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement were arrested Saturday night in New York during clashes with police.
Protesters first set out to march from the Bronx to Manhattan chanting anti-racist slogans, forcing the halt to car traffic on the George Washington Bridge, the George Washington Bridge reported on Sunday. New York Post.
It took the intervention of the police to disperse the demonstrators who then turned back, around 8 p.m., to converge on 34e arrondissement.
Videos posted on social media showed tense scenes when police stopped protesters, some of whom were pushed to the ground.
The protests against racism and police brutality have put the BLM movement in a state of continuous mobilization since the death of George Floyd last May.
