Tel Aviv – Israel closed its Mediterranean beaches to visitors on Sunday after a serious oil spill. Citizens were urged not to go swimming or to play sports on the beach. The environmental pollution could endanger health, it said to explain. Much more was not to be found out, because on Monday a court in Haifa imposed a news blackout on the cause. There was no information about the exact reasons for the extremely unusual step. This is also because the court had also prohibited reporting on this.
