Nice v Montpellier match summary, 07/11/2021, Ligue 1

Nice-Montpellier (0-1): the Aiglons cold-picked by the MHSC

Dominating throughout the meeting, Nice finally lost against the MHSC and missed the opportunity to take the place of dolphin.

Third in Ligue 1, OGC Nice needed only one point against Montpellier to beat RC Lens, second. At the Allianz Riviera, where Christophe Galtier’s men remained on a convincing success against OL (3-2), the Eagles faced off against an MHSC team deprived of its master to play, Téji Savanier.

At the start of the game, it was the locals who applied themselves to putting pressure on their evening opponent at all times. Dominant, OGC Nice, however, struggled to transform its ascendancy into real opportunities. Proof of this is, at the break, only Amine Gouiri had given a real thrill to Montpellier (12th), seeing his attempt in pivot miss the frame. Under pressure from Nice, the MHSC operated against, but for a long time came up against the good defense of the Gym, intractable.

Nice insists … the MHSC resists and stings

After a first act won on points by OGC Nice, the second act started on the same basis. Successively, Amine Gouiri (47th) and Lucas Da Cunha (53rd) forced Jonas Omlin to intervene. In the process, Mario Lemina sent the leather on the crossbar of the Swiss goalkeeper (54th). Pressure intensified!

But Christophe Galtier’s men did not stop there, determined to open the scoring in front of their supporters. Despite the injury exit of Youcef Atal (58th), the Niçois continued to attack, in vain … After tirelessly defending by trying timid cons, the MHSC even began to believe in it.

More realistic than their opponent, the Hérault people opened the scoring to everyone’s surprise. The goal was the work of Florent Mollet at the end of the match (80th). Left abnormally free in the penalty area, the attacking midfielder had the luxury of adjusting Walter Benitez with his left foot … Unstoppable for the Argentine. Without being dazzling, the MHSC had the merit of believing it this Sunday and won three decisive points. Out of inspiration, OGC Nice is missing the opportunity to become the runner-up to PSG.
