On France Bleu Gironde, the journalist Nicolas Tourriol was invited to give his feelings on the change of stadium at the Girondins de Bordeaux. Was the transition from Stade Lescure to Stade Matmut Atlantique a failure, at least in terms of identity?
“If it’s a failed move? Um yes. Even if that is for symbolism. Now the new stadium has been made for the club to grow even more, for Euro 2016 as well of course. It’s the transfer of power between the owner M6 and the Americans behind with GACP, King Street… This is where there started to have problems, a less good or even failed recruitment and so on. Then you have the feeling, when we take the example of this season, that nothing is going well because in the end the club goes down for almost nothing. What regret? The penalty at the end in Nantes, for not being able to win against Lorient last Saturday when that was enough to save themselves. It’s crazy. So yes the change of stadium necessarily, but I see it as a symbol, because in fact for 4 or 5 years now, each year, it’s worse and worse.
