Nissan has officially introduced a concept coupe that will become the successor to the 370Z. Z Proto will be on the assembly line next year.
The new Z is 4,381 long, 1,850 wide and 1,310 mm high. This makes it 127 mm longer than the Nissan 370Z, and also slightly wider and lower. Wheelbase not reported.
The prototype has a six-cylinder engine with two turbochargers combined with a six-speed manual transmission. Power is not mentioned, but according to Carscoops, the production version will receive the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport engine, which develops 406 hp. and 474 Nm.
This means that the next Z will be significantly more powerful than its predecessor (370Z has a 3.7-liter V6 with 337 horsepower) and its main competitor Toyota Supra, whose in-line six develops 340 hp.
The design of the concept is done in a retro style with many references to the history of the cult Z family. The silhouette is reminiscent of the first model of it, the rectangular black insert with LED taillights on the back – 300ZX, and color – Datsun 240Z first generation.
The salon looks far more modern and does not waver in nostalgia. The dashboard features full-featured multimedia with a 9-inch screen and a 12.3-inch dashboard.
