41 new cases of the disease were discovered last day. The two-week cumulative rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 population has dropped from 64.9 to 62.3.
In total, 7924 Covid-19 examinations were performed in Latvia last day. The proportion of positive cases against the tested ones was 0.5%. The proportion of positive tests below 4% in Latvia has been observed for about a month.
Taking into account the achieved indicators, Latvia could apply for entry into the European Union (EU) list of “green countries”, which would mean less restrictions on movement. According to information disseminated by the EU, this list includes countries with a cumulative test rate of less than 75 and a positive test rate of less than 1%, while if the positive test rate is between 1% and 4%, the cumulative rate should be below 50%.
To date, a total of 137,210 people have contracted Covid-19 in Latvia, but 2,503 have died from this disease, or 1.8% of those have died.
