Fans will not have the opportunity to admire Matteo Berrettini either. The 27-year-old Italian also struggles with health problems and although he is slowly recovering from hand surgery, he decided not to risk it and give up the start in Paris.

“My staff and I decided that returning to the game straight away at Roland Garros, where you fight to three sets won, would not be very sensible,” emphasized the 26-year-old, while noting that the recovery is moving in the right direction. “The hand responds very well to I’m working hard to get back in shape as soon as possible.”
