“Nothing New in the West” nominated for US Film Editing Awards

“Nothing New in the West” was nominated for nine Oscars in January.

The German editor Sven Budelmann was nominated in the category “Best Feature Film Editing/Drama”. The Eddie Awards will be presented in Los Angeles on March 5th.

The nine-Oscar-nominated anti-war film The Western World has another chance to win in Hollywood. The German film by director Edward Berger is also in the running for the “Eddie Awards”, which are presented by the US Association of Film Cutters for the best film editing. The organization American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced the nominations.

The German editor Sven Budelmann (“Nothing New in the West”) is in the category “Best Feature Film Editing/Drama” with colleagues from the films “Elvis”, “Tár”, “Top Gun: Maverick” and “The Woman King ‘ in the race. The films “The Banshees of Inisherin”, “Everything, Everywhere, All at Once” and “Triangle of Sadness” are nominated in the comedy category.

The winners of the 73rd Eddie Awards are scheduled to be honored on March 5 in Los Angeles. The award winners often also pick up the Oscar trophy in the category “Best Editing”.

“Nothing New in the West” was nominated for nine Oscars in January, including in the top category “Best Picture”, as best international film, for camera, sound, music and visual effects, but not in the editing category. At the 95th Academy Awards on March 12, five films will compete for the Oscars for Editing, including “Elvis”, “Tár” and “Top Gun: Maverick”. (dpa)
