November 11: churches called to ring their bells 11 minutes to 11 hours

It's an initiative that will make some noise. Sunday, as part of the commemorations of November 11th, marking the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War, churches are invited to ring their bells at 11 am for 11 minutes.

Paul Bergamo, president of Gihec, the group of watchmaking installers of campanarian buildings and equipment, that is to say the bells, wishes to celebrate peace with this proposal. He recalls that the alarm was sounded in 2014 to remind the beginning of the conflict. He wants the bells to ring Sunday to evoke something positive.

"Some prefects even sent circulars to encourage churches to ring their bells! "Enthuses Paul Bergamo. He also hopes that this initiative will remind us that bells, besides their religious function, are also intended to carry a message.

For Sunday, even if there is no obligation, "given the returns we have, we must believe that almost all the bells should ring! Says Bergamo.
