15 October 2021
Bad Homburg, Germany, October 15, 2021 – NTT Ltd., a leading global IT service provider, today announced its new role as the official technology partner of the Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) for the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift. The new race, which will take place in 2022, aims to promote the development of women’s cycling and inspire the next generation of women cyclists.
The opening race will start on July 24th on the Champs-Élysées before the end of the men’s race. Twenty teams of six women each fight for victory and the last stage ends on July 31, 2022. The event follows the same codes, values and symbols as the men’s race and helps promote diversity and equality in sport.
As the event’s official technology partner, NTT will work with ASO on a technology roadmap that will provide fans with a full digital experience. This includes the Race Center, which brings together social media, press reviews and LeTourData. The latter provides fans with data-driven insights and AI predictions via Twitter, Instagram and TV broadcasts to bring them closer to the action.
“We are incredibly proud to be part of this historic event and to support the ASO in promoting inclusion and cycling as a popular sport,” said Marilyn Chaplin, Chief Human Resources and Sustainability Officer at NTT Ltd. “The start of this race will have a significant impact on diversity in cycling and make a major contribution to getting more women interested in the sport. Our technology will help raise the profile of the women’s race and bring its passionate fans closer to the action. We are happy about this step towards a more inclusive and diverse sport. “
NTT’s role as the Official Technology Partner of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift means that the company is now supporting ASO in four of their women’s races – including the Paris-Roubaix Femmes, the Fleche Wallonne Femmes and the Liège-Bastogne-Liège Femmes . NTT is also the official technology partner of the men’s Tour de France.
“We at ASO are very happy to start the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift and to be able to count on such competent companies as NTT”, explains Yann Le Moënner, CEO of ASO. “Our partnership with NTT is known for the fans to get on the pulse of what is happening. In July 2020, NTT partnered with Zwift to host the first virtual Tour de France that allowed 40 million fans to attend the event despite the Covid restrictions. NTT’s technological capabilities will continue to help us shape the race of the future based on innovation, data analysis and equality. “
