Number of tourists in Spain creeps towards normal level | Economy

According to provisional figures, the number of tourists who went on holiday in Spain in August amounts to more than 8.8 million. That is still less than the ten million from 2019, but 70 percent more than last year, statistics agency INE reports.

Although there were still much fewer tourists than before the corona pandemic, the income is almost at the same level. Prices are also higher in Spain than before.

In the peak month of August, tourism revenues amounted to 11.3 billion euros. In August 2019, that was 11.7 billion euros.

The Spanish economy is relatively highly dependent on tourism.
