Oculus Quest are the next virtual reality glasses or VR of Facebook, previously known as Oculus Santa Cruz.

The Oculus Quest glasses They maintain the same general concept of Oculus Go by being totally independent virtual reality glasses (they do not require an external computer to work).

However, Oculus Quest are postulated as more advanced glasses than Oculus Go, since Facebook promises to offer a game and graphic quality similar to Oculus Rift, including the Oculus Touch controls, which offer great flexibility of movement and naturalness to immerse themselves in the virtual reality.

The Oculus Go offer good quality but they do not manage to reach the Oculus Rift height and they only have a basic control that although they recognize your movement they limit you a lot.

Facebook is still postulating Oculus Rift as the most advanced VR system and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Oculus' parent Facebook, confirmed that they are working on the second generation, which could be called Oculus Rift II.

On the other hand, Facebook promises that at least 50 video games and experiences will be available at the launch of the Oculus Quest.

Oculus Insight

The Oculus Quest VR glasses integrate four external sensors that allow what the company calls Oculus Insight, a technology that allows them to "see" to know your location.

The four sensors are not the only ones that allow this, since they achieve this motorization thanks to different algorithms of visual computing that integrates the system to be able to do this with great precision in real time.

Something outstanding is that the space limitations of this technology would be much smaller than what we find today, since it has managed to map a place of more than 3,000 square meters.

In addition, the Oculus Quest glasses manage to memorize your environments or real physical scenarios, so you do not have to recreate completely where you are using them.

Virtual reality and mixed reality

Although the main purpose of the Oculus Quest is to offer a good virtual reality experience, Facebook promises that they also have the ability to offer mixed reality, which allows you to work on the computer even when you are in VR. This is a vision for the future, so it is not expected to arrive at the launch of the Oculus Quest.

In this way, and thanks to Oculus Insight and its technology, the glasses will be able to map your environment in real time to show you things virtually, since the glasses do not have cameras that allow you to see the physical world in a totally real way.
