Writers Marcos Ana and Eduardo Galeano will have their own streets in Mera. The Oleiros council will name them after these two authors, who fought to improve society, in a new urbanization that will be built between Pinar do Río and Lamalonga.

Marcos Ana He was a poet and anti-Franco fighter who spent 23 years of his life in prison for defending democracy during the Franco regime. He was one of the prisoners who served the longest time in Franco’s prisons.

The Uruguayan writer and journalist Eduardo Galeano He portrayed, through his works, the blemishes and ghosts of contemporary society at the time.

Both authors were already honored by the Oleiros Council in 2003 and 2006 at the A Fábrica cultural center.
