This Saturday (9 p.m., Eurosport 2), OM welcome Montpellier to the Orange-Vélodrome for the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France. A very good poster between the third and the sixth in Ligue 1, but which promises to be quite complicated for the Montpellier coach Olivier Dall’Oglio. Indeed, the MHSC will have to do without four holders with Mavididi, Ferri and Savanier suspended, and Germain injured. However, the Héraultais have reserves and can give the Olympians a hard time, as explained to the Phocéen Corentin Pastoret, of the site Allezpaillade.com :
What does Montpellier look like before facing OM?
Corentin Pastoret: “Overall, the first part of the season was very successful. We performed very well in December with a good string of victories. We had the feeling that we could have beaten Bayern (laughs). On the other hand, January was much more complicated with a silly defeat in Strasbourg, then another against Troyes in stride. Two matches which brought tension, hence the silly cards received. Then, they recovered very well on Sunday with a victory of madness at home against Monaco in stoppage time (3-2). A match that puts us back in the right direction”.
So the transition between Der Zakarian and Dall’Oglio was smooth?
CP : “Yes. We had fears at this level, because Der Zakarian was very well established here, and we knew that Dall’Oglio had ended up in difficulty with Brest. We also regretted that the club had not taken Laurent Battles. But today ‘today, we see the Dall’Oglio touch on the game and we enjoy it”.
On the other hand, for the match at the Vélodrome, it will be complicated with all these absent starters…
CP : “It’s clear. Already, losing Ferri and Savanier in the middle is terrible, because they are the two bosses of the team. Only Chotard remains as a starter in this very important sector of the team. should see Mollet come back a little lower and the young Leroy. And in front, it’s also a disaster with the absences of Mavididi and Germain, two of the three starters. It’s a huge project where we could find Gioacchini and Makouana, two very young players with no experience, with Wahi at the forefront. In fact, our only strong point will be the defense with in particular Mamadou Sakho, who has been enormous since his arrival”.
So, which eleven can we bet on on Saturday?
CP : “I think Dall’Oglio can field a slightly more defensive 4-4-2 than usual with: Omlin – Souquet, Cozza, Sakho, Ristic – Makouana (Sambia), Leroy, Chotard, Mollet – Wahi, Gioacchini”.
