On the move with e-scooters under the influence of alcohol or drugs

Cologne (ots) – The influence of drugs and alcohol when using e-scooters was also a concern for the police this weekend. On Saturday night (August 28), an e-scooter occupied by two people drove in serpentine lines into the field of vision of the police on Zülpicher Strasse. During the search of the allegedly drugged driver, the officers seized drugs and a telescopic baton and ordered a blood sample.

Shortly after midnight, a 35-year-old from Cologne fell from an e-scooter while driving on the Auenweg in Cologne-Deutz and was taken to a clinic with knocked out teeth and a suspected broken jaw. Investigations later revealed that the 35-year-old should have stood as a passenger on the e-scooter. Both he and the 30-year-old driver were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident. Police also ordered a blood test here. (jk / de)
