Rewrite this content

From Long Beach to Miami, relive the 1987 season of IndyCar, then called CART PPG Indy Car World Series, now Toronto.

Today Toronto is a must for the IndyCar season. Very quickly this event became the second Canadian sporting event, behind the Formula 1 Grand Prix which takes place in the streets of Montreal, Quebec. In 1987, it was only the second coming to the Ontario city. In 1986, Bobby Rahal won the inaugural event.

The circuit is laid out around the City of Toronto fairgrounds. The track is only 1.78 miles long and is run 103 times during the race.

Championship leader Bobby Rahal takes pole position at an average of 105.17 mph. He shares the front row of the starting grid with Colombian Roberto Guerrero. Emerson Fittipaldi and Danny Sullivan are on the second row.
