An Aerolineas Argentinas flight will depart today for Beijing, China, to search for a million doses of the Sinopharm vaccine, which received emergency approval this Sunday from the new Minister of Health, Carla Vizzotti.

BUENOS AIRES (NA) .- As confirmed by NA, Aerolineas Argentinas scheduled the departure of a flight for this Tuesday at 7:00 to the Chinese capital, via Madrid.

With that million doses, 500 thousand people can be immunized and they will be added to the vaccines that are also expected to arrive in the coming days from Russia.

The plane of the flag line that will go to Beijing to look for the vaccines is an Airbus 330-200.

The Government of Alberto Fernández agreed a few days ago with the Chinese laboratory Sinopharm the acquisition of one million vaccines, the purchase of which was completed once the approval of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (ANMAT) was obtained.

This Sunday Minister Vizzotti approved the emergency use of the Chinese vaccine, which was acquired during the administration of Ginés González García.

The Alberto Fernández administration aimed to get the first shipment of one million doses, but the framework agreement would be to acquire a total of 30 million.

However, the agreement with Sinopharm was delayed due to the price that China placed on the vaccine, since it costs about $ 40, more than the rest of the options on the market.

Last month, Fernández and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, exchanged letters in which the Asian said that his country “is willing to work” with Argentina to promote high-quality cooperation and advance the development of vaccines against the coronavirus. .

Sinopharm developed an inactivated vaccine, which means that it carries a genetically altered version of the virus that prevents it from reproducing and developing the disease, but which generates an immune response in the body with protective capacity.

According to the Argentine health portfolio, the vaccine requires two doses to be applied at least 21 days apart, and can be transported and stored between 2 and 8 ° C and remain stable for 24 months.
