The US stock exchanges will start the day weaker again on Thursday after US officials announced further high inflation numbers. 30 minutes before the start of floor trading, the futures contract on the Dow Jones is down around 0.7 percent. Authorities said producer prices in the US rose 11 percent in April. The minimally positive surprise does not change the fact that the USA is experiencing the highest inflation since the 1980s. Many investors fear that the Fed could now tighten its pace when raising interest rates – and thus stall the economy.
