Since 1983 there has been the association “Konzertfreunde Straubing e. V.” yes. On June 27th of this year, it will be 40 years that those involved in the association have been organizing top-class concerts for Straubing and the region. This was recently decided by District President Dr. Olaf Heinrich and district councilor Franz Schreyer took the opportunity to thank the second chairman, Gerold Huber, for the impressive work of the association.
An attractive program with nine concerts has also been launched for the 2023 concert season, featuring well-known artists such as the pianist Gerold Huber and the violinist Arabella Steinbacher. Three of these concerts deal with the development of contemporary music, because part of the annual program is a small series of concerts devoted entirely to the music of the 20th and 21st centuries, which the Förderverein Kultur und Forschung Bogen-Oberalteich e. V. and the Konzertfreunde Straubing e. V. organize together.
That is why the district representatives took the opportunity to thank the first chairman of the Förderverein für Kultur und Forschung Bogen-Oberalteich e. V., Dr. Thomas Späth to express their appreciation for the excellent cooperation between the two clubs.
District President Dr. Olaf Heinrich: “In Lower Bavaria there is little commitment and initiative for contemporary music, so the joint efforts of the two clubs are all the more gratifying. Especially concert series like these can build a bridge to the music of our time for the interested audience and are therefore worthy of all honor.”
With formats such as a compact mini-festival, the two clubs also bring “new tones locally”. There is also a focus on involving the local schools and thus arousing the curiosity of young audiences about contemporary music without prejudice.
During the discussion, it became clear that the events are well received, but that financial support from sponsors and subsidies from public funds are always required in order to meet the necessary budget.
With their concert subscriptions, the approximately 200 members of the Konzertfreunde make a significant contribution to the fact that chamber music and orchestra, singing and soloist concerts can be performed at the highest level in Straubing.
Both clubs want to further intensify the successful cooperation, especially with regard to the creative further development of the offers. Above all, the integration of families is a common concern for them, because there is no substitute for the live experience. Events such as the Animal Carnival or Rhapsody in Blue started last year.
“It’s impressive the enthusiasm and dedication with which the volunteers work in both clubs. They are exemplary in ensuring that an attractive range of cultural activities is available in our region. It is therefore particularly important to me that the district of Lower Bavaria continues to support these activities financially within the scope of its possibilities,” concluded the district president, Dr. Olaf Heinrich.
