The Lille are used to Saturday events. This May 15, 2021 will not depart from tradition. Three gatherings are announced in Lille: in ssupport to the Palestinian people, against Monsanto-Bayer and for the respect of wolves.
A demonstration of support for Palestine in Lille
At 3 p.m., the Association France Palestine Solidarié 59-62 and the northern Palestinian community called for a rally at Place de la République.
The demonstration takes place amid violent armed clashes between Israel and Hamas, with airstrikes claiming many civilian lives, especially in the Gaza Strip, but also in the territory of the Hebrew state.
In response, several organizations are calling for demonstrations on Saturday. In Lille, the organizers are calling for a “boycott” of Israel and “support for Palestinian resistance”.
In Paris, Gérald Darmanin asked the prefect to ban a similar gathering, fearing riots similar to those that occurred in 2014. For the time being, the North prefecture has, to our knowledge, no decree. ban on the Lille gathering.
Monsanto-Bayer and the preservation of the wolf
One hour before this gathering, at 2 p.m., at the call of several environmental organizations, another demonstration must take place at Place de la République.
It is about taking part in the World March against Monsanto-Bayer to “demand environmental justice for all victims of multinational agrochemicals, denounce the impacts of the current agro-industrial system and its inequalities” and advocate more responsible agriculture.
Finally, still at 2 p.m., but on the Grand Place, the association Je suis la Voix des Animaux calls for a rally to demand “respect for wolves”. This time, it will be a question of signing a petition asking for an end to “regular violations of international regulations on endangered species” and to demand the ban on new wolf slaughter.
This promises a particularly lively and demanding Saturday in Lille.
