JENIN – Defense Forces Israel (IDF) deployed the elite Shayetet 13 unit from the Navy in a raid in Jenin, West Bank, Palestine, on Sunday morning.

The elite Shayetet 13 force is known to contain “silent personnel”.

During the raid in Jenin, the special forces arrested Palestinians in northern West Bank cities, including in Jenin and its refugee camps.

The force is on a mission to hunt down suspected terrorist Ra’ad Fathi Hazem, who killed three people in Tel Aviv on Thursday night.

Hazem is reportedly hiding in Yabad City, the hometown of terrorist suspect Diaa Hamarsheh who killed five people in the attack in Bnei Brak on March 29.

During the raid in which eight suspects were arrested, the elite force came under fire from armed Palestinians. The troops were attacked with explosive devices and gunfire.

No troops from the elite unit were injured.

Israeli security forces carry out almost nightly raids in the West Bank in an effort to arrest Palestinian fugitives as well as to uncover unofficial workshops that manufacture illegal weapons and seize funds that could be used for terrorist attacks.
