Part of San Antonio and Cerro streets will be reformed with the Works and Services Plan


The 2022-2023 Community Works and Services Plan will mean an investment of 484,136 euros in two infrastructure improvement projects in Yecla. These actions, fully financed by the Ministry of the Presidency, Tourism, Culture and Sports, will be carried out next year.

This planned investment is in addition to those made under the previous Works and Services Plan, developed in 2020 and 2021, which allowed the execution of four projects in different streets of Yecla for an amount of 463,010 euros, fully contributed by the Community. In this way, the budget allocated by the Ministry in the last two editions of the Plan to this town amounts to 947,146 euros.

«This plan is the best reflection of the commitment of the regional government to improve people’s lives. Large infrastructure actions are very important, but that is not the objective of this plan, whose raison d’être is collaborate with city councils to make cities more accessible, sustainable and pleasantwhich improve the quality of life of the residents”, assured the councilor, Marcos Ortuño, who this Wednesday visited, together with the mayoress of Yecla, Remedios Lajara, the environment where the new projects will be carried out.

The largest work to be carried out in 2023, endowed with a budget of 334,150 euros, is the redevelopment of San Antonio streetin the section between San Francisco and Don Lucio streets, where the same type of redevelopment that has been used recently in other nearby roads will be carried out.

With the renovation of the water supply and sewage network infrastructures, along with improved paving and accessibility conditions, the project aims to improve road safety and use by pedestrians, while reducing pollution and it will improve the quality of life of passers-by, who will have more space and will endure less environmental noise.

The second project to be carried out will be the renovation of pavement, sewerage and drinking water in Cerro street, between the Saliente and Travesía roads on San Cristóbal street. In this case, the available budget amounts to 149,986 euros, which will be used to improve pedestrian accessibility in the area, by renovating and expanding the sidewalk on the left bank, giving continuity to the pedestrian itinerary, and replacing the water supply and sanitation infrastructure. , in addition to carrying out the different home connections of both services.
