Paul Merson has made his predictions for this weekend’s Premier League matches, including Manchester United’s trip to Tottenham, Chelsea’s visit to Newcastle United and Arsenal’s clash with Leicester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will travel to North London on Saturday night, desperate to bounce back from a humiliating 5-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford last weekend.
The Red Devils face a Spurs team that is also struggling, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team losing three of its last five league games.
Also on Saturday, European champions Chelsea visit St James’ Park to face Newcastle United. The Blues are at the top of the Premier League having won seven of their nine games, while the Magpies are in 19th place and drew 1-1 with Crystal Palace the last time in the first game since Steve Bruce was fired.
Liverpool, one point behind Chelsea in second place, welcome Brighton to Anfield, while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal face a tough test at the King Power Stadium against Leicester.
Also this weekend, defending champion Manchester City host Crystal Palace, the last Norwich City take on Leeds United and West Ham in form take on Aston Villa.
Merson expects Solskjaer’s Manchester United to get back on the winning track against Spurs and has achieved his predictions for all Premier League matches for Sportskeeda.
Leicester City vs Arsenal
‘Arsenal have shown remarkable improvement this month but now have some injuries to deal with.
‘They’re a tough team to beat right now, and they know how to dig when they’re not playing well.
‘I thought Arsenal were outstanding against Aston Villa, it’s the best I’ve seen them play this season.
“Leicester City were very lucky to beat Brentford last weekend. However, Brendan Rodgers has built a good team and his performance against Manchester United is a testament to his ability.
‘It seems that Arsenal have learned a thing or two about how to get results in tough matches. , and a point here would be a good result for the Gunners. ‘
Prediction: Leicester City 1-1 Arsenal
Watford, wow! I did not expect that. They were brilliant against Everton and I would not let them pass and win another game this weekend.
‘With Everton, you know they are an offensive team and they will inevitably be vulnerable at the counter. Southampton play a different kind of game and these matches could pose some problems for Watford.
Southampton did well in their 2-2 draw against Burnley, and they are perfectly capable of a decent outing.
“This game gives Watford the opportunity to put some light between them and the relegation zone, however I would support Claudio Ranieri’s men to seize the opportunity.”
Prediction: Watford 2-1 Southampton
Liverpool vs Brighton & amp; Hove Albion
“Brighton are a decent team and they can do something unexpected in their day. I think this will be a more difficult game for Liverpool than the one they played against Manchester United.
‘Jurgen Klopp has a lot of options with his three forwards this season and his attack line. He always looks outstanding regardless of his team’s selection.
‘While both Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino are excellent options, I would personally go with Firmino along with Salah and Mane this weekend.
‘Brighton plays an expansive game and leaves spaces in the canal for their opponents to exploit.
“Honestly, I can’t see Liverpool lose this game at the moment, and I’m going to go for another win for Jurgen Klopp’s men.”
Predicción: Liverpool 3-1 Brighton & amp; Hove Albion
Newcastle United vs Chelsea
“I care about Newcastle. Nothing has changed for them: they don’t have a manager, they are in a relegation battle and I don’t know what’s going on.
‘They were absolutely devastated by Crystal Palace last week and were lucky that Benteke was not wearing his shooting boots.
‘It’s okay to come with all this money, but you need to have a plan. They have fired Steve Bruce and are going to play tough Premier League games without a coach. I can’t believe what I’m seeing right now.
“Chelsea have rested most of their players this week. They made a lot of changes to the Carabao Cup, and I don’t think they can stop this weekend.
‘Newcastle United are an absolute disaster right now, and I don’t see anything but a Chelsea win here. ‘
Prediction: Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle United
Manchester City vs Crystal Palace
Manchester City will reel after being out of the Carabao Cup this week. It will not be the same to see the competition without them.
‘This will be a difficult game for Pep Guardiola, but I still think that Manchester City has enough quality and depth to win this game.
‘I loved watching Crystal Palace this season. They certainly have a chance with their opponents and while this is not a game of bread and butter for them, I think they will still cause some problems for the home team.
“However, Manchester City have a lot of class across the pitch and they should be able to secure a win.”
Prediction: Manchester City 3-1 Crystal Palacio
Burnley vs Brentford
‘This is a great game for Brentford, and it is just the beginning of four important weeks. The next three games define their season: If they lose these games, they are in a relegation battle.
‘It’s not beating Arsenal and taking points away from Liverpool that will ultimately matter, it’s winning these games against Burnley, Norwich and Newcastle.
‘Burnley also has a lot to play for this weekend. We always assume that Burnley will be fine in the Premier League, but if they don’t win this I’d start to worry.
‘They went to Southampton and had a good performance at the end of the weekend, but they need to back that up with a win here. I think the power that Burnley has in his team could be enough to win this game. ”
Prediction: Burnley 2-1 Brentford
Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United
‘Manchester United have a way of finding results in games like these. But if they lose to Spurs and keep Solskjaer in this job, they aren’t going anywhere, right? They can’t go on like this, it’s already November!
“It is not Ronaldo’s fault either, he is not receiving the service. It does not exist at this time and it is not touching the ball.
‘If you want to keep him on the team, drop him and play someone like Cavani or Greenwood. front of. Give Ronaldo the ball and have the runners circle him. He would put Cavani on the team and give Ronaldo a free spot.
“This is a match that Manchester United must win. They just seem to find results in tough situations, and I think that’s what will happen here. Manchester United are going to win this game and will fill in the cracks again.
‘They achieved a victory against Atalanta in the Champions League, and I think they will achieve something similar this weekend. ‘
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-2 Manchester United
Norwich City vs Leeds United
‘This is a match Norwich has to win. They were beaten by Chelsea last week, but they should have managed a win against Brighton.
‘They are not a million miles away from a result, and I think they could win back their first league win of the season here.
“Leeds are a fun team. They went to Southampton and didn’t get a shot on goal, needing a last-minute penalty against the Wolves to fight their way to a draw.
‘Raphinha’s injury also comes as a massive blow to them. It’s a good time to play Leeds, and Norwich could be in for a surprise this weekend. ‘
Prediction: Norwich City 1-0 Leeds United
Aston Villa vs West Ham United
“Aston Villa have been very unpredictable this month. They were really disappointing against Arsenal, and they ended up taking out every player they bought in the second half.
‘They are your best players, keep them, whatever happens!
West Ham, on the other hand, will be looking for a top four result this season. They were poor against Brentford last week but came back directly against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
“They are moving really well in the top four after 10 games, and I’m going to go with a West Ham win this weekend.”
Prediction: Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham United
Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Everton
‘Everton conceded four goals in the final 15 minutes against Watford and was completely disorganized.
‘They have a lot of work to do before this match, and I don’t see them recovering immediately from what was an absolutely shocking result.
‘The wolves have been a good team so far, but they have been unlucky. They’re in a bit of a false position right now, and they’ve played well, but they haven’t been able to squander their chances.
‘They were undone by a stoppage-penalty time last weekend, and I would back them up to go all the way against Everton. ‘
Prediction: Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-1 Everton
