Today we have a good one for you – the new OnePlus 6T takes over the popular Samsung Galaxy S9. Both devices are considered flagships of their manufacturers, although the Galaxy line has a S9 Plus model with more references. When it comes to looks, the Galaxy S9 is the clear winner, but the value aspect of the OnePlus 6T makes it look much better. When it comes to pure technology, the OnePlus 6T with the Galaxy S9 is at the forefront – both use the latest SD845 and Adreno 630 GPUs, and both have great cameras. Sure, the Galaxy S9 has some additional window assemblies (read this as bloatware) and a few additions to its list of worthwhile features, but the OnePlus 6T is equipped with the hard basics, more RAM, a great camera, and an even better price.

Although these two devices are worlds, they have several similarities. Both use a large AMOLED display, although the OnePlus 6T is just FHD + and the Galaxy S9 QHD +. Both use the Snapdragon 845 processor and the Adreno 630 graphics GPU. Both use a non-replaceable battery and a quick charge option – only the Galaxy S9 offers wireless charging. The usual suspects are available with NFC, WiFi, Bluetooth v5.0 and a USB type-C port for charging and data transfer. The OP6T and Galaxy S9 each feature Google Pay, a fingerprint sensor and facial recognition, in a full-glass body.

Please see the detailed comparison chart below. Here's how these two high-end Android smartphones line up. What is the better buy if you offer the most technology for the least amount of money? Are you looking for a powerful phone, looks or more features? We will try to answer these questions in this comparison.

Samsung Galaxy S9

Samsung spends many phones every year, but the Galaxy S and Note series are the crème de la crème of their phone line. Today we look at the Galaxy S9, a flagship of the brand "Basic", which lacks some elements of the Galaxy S9 Plus. The Galaxy S9 has a smaller display, less RAM (4GB vs. 6GB) and only one rear camera. The remaining technology is as good as it is – you get Snapdragon 845, Adreno 630, Hi-Res audio, stereo speakers and the same 12 megapixel camera with the new Adaptive Aperture function. The Galaxy S9 also includes the new Intelligent Scan, which combines Face Detection and Iris Scan for faster and more accurate authentication. The phone is made of Gorilla Glass 5, wireless charging is possible.

The Samsung Super AMOLED display is simply the best on the market and the Galaxy S9 is certainly no exception. It has a 5.8-inch infinity display with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9. Because of this ratio, the display looks a bit thin and large, but this allows for better viewing of movies and videos, and a perfect option for multiple Window. Its QHD + resolution produces 2960 x 1440 pixels and 570 pixels per inch (PPI), giving you vibrant colors and the blackest black. Samsung has an excellent Always on Display (AoD) that allows the user to "see" their notifications before actually deciding whether to open the phone for reading. This saves battery life, but makes it a simple tool for the user to manage notifications.

The US version of the Galaxy S9 uses the same Snapdragon 845 as the OnePlus 6T. It is an octa-core processor, clocked at 2.7 GHz and equipped with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of expandable memory. If you need more internal storage, 128GB and 256GB will be available depending on location and wireless service provider. The Galaxy S9, marketed in other countries, uses Samsung's proprietary Exynos 9810 octa-core processor clocked at 2.7GHz, along with a Mali G72 MP18 GPU. These two versions can run the Galaxy S9 equally.

In addition to the stereo speakers that Samsung has included in the S-Series this year, the new Adaptive Aperture features one of the most exciting features in the camera department. The aperture can be adjusted for faint conditions of 1: 1.5, for bright conditions: 1: 2.4. It's a 12 megapixel with its new super dual pixels and uses AutoFocus (PDAF), OIS, 8x digital zoom and a LED flash. The FFC uses an 8-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f / 1.7, auto-HRD and autofocus. This leads to excellent selfies and video chats. The Galaxy S9 is powered by a battery with a capacity of 3,000 mAh, which should last a whole day for the average user. However, most would have preferred a larger size. If you need a recharge, the Galaxy S9 uses Samsung's adaptive fast charging system and fast wireless charging for Qi and PMA formats.

If you pave your way through the many apps that Samsung has installed on their phones, you will find some very useful and others not so useful. Samsung Pay is one of the good ones because you can make purchases from some providers that do not accept Google Pay. Intelligent Scan improves biometrics with Face Detection and Iris Scan for a fast and secure connection. Not satisfied with the Google Assistant, Samsung presented its Bixby AI as a competitor. The Galaxy S9 is IP68 certified with a heart rate sensor, SpO2 sensor and a new blood pressure monitor. Most users will enjoy the new stereo speakers more than anything else. They also included an AR Emoji program, which is a great idea but is still in the works. Samsung has improved its DeX so you only need to use a dongle to connect the Galaxy S9 to a Smart TV. With Samsung Connect, users can control their smart devices, thermostats and more.

Colors often convince buyers, so many manufacturers offer more colors than just black and white, so the Galaxy S9 is available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, Purple Purple, Burgundy Red and Sunset Gold. The color selection depends on location and vehicle. Android 8.0 (Oreo) is already included, but has been updated to Oreo 8.1. The device measures 147.6 x 68.7 x 8.4 mm and weighs 163 grams. The retail costs about $ 800, but special promotions are possible.

OnePlus 6T

The OnePlus 6T is a full flagship with AMOLED display, high-tech processor and GPU. It will never be as beautiful as the Samsung Galaxy S9 with its infinity display, but has a more industrial look, but the operating theater price is always the price their devices sell. The OnePlus 6 hit the market this year and the OnePlus 6T is the model that was originally supposed to come out. However, this form of marketing has been well proven by OnePlus over the years. You get enough RAM, but the memory is not expandable. The dual camera is good overall and the software has also been updated. It's strange that the gorilla glass design can not be charged wirelessly, has no IP68 certification and no headphone jack. However, the OnePlus 6T offers a fingerprint sensor on the screen.

The OnePlus 6T features a 6.41-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 18.5: 9, which makes it look a bit thin and tall, allowing for better viewing of movies and videos. If you want to do multitasking, this aspect ratio is the perfect way to display multiple windows. It only has an FHD + resolution that produces 2340 x 1080 pixels and a density of 402 pixels per inch (PPI). OP saves both money and battery, while many technicians want the QHD + resolution. OP also decided to add the Apple notch to their display, but it protects the display with the new Gorilla Glass 6.

The OnePlus 6T and Galaxy S9 get the same Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor clocked at 2.8GHz, and the powerful Adreno 630 for the best graphics imaginable, whether it's movies, videos or games , The OP6T has 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of non-expandable memory. There is a model with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of memory – no memory is expandable. The OP6T is powered by a 3,700 mAh non-replaceable battery with its own quick-charge charge – wireless charging is not possible.

OnePlus jumped early on the twin-camera car and the OnePlus 6T has different sized sensors. The main camera is a large 16 megapixel with a aperture of 1: 1.7. PDAF and a dual LED flash work for both cameras. The other camera is the largest camera with a 20 megapixel sensor, a 1: 1.7 aperture and EIS and OIS to improve stabilization. The FFC is a large 16 megapixel with a 1: 2.0 aperture stabilized by EIS and comes with Auto HDR. OnePlus makes it easier to zoom in and out of the OnePlus 6T by zooming in and out with the new Alert Slider when you open the Camera app. There is also an improvement in camera software that can be better organized, but greatly improves the photo experience.

The OnePlus 6T is designed for users who want the best for their money. It features an AMOLED display, the same processor / GPU as the Galaxy S9, more RAM and memory for better multitasking, two cameras and a large FFC. It also has Android 9.0 Pie with its OxygenOS interface – a light touch that leaves an almost pure vanilla Android running smoothly and fast. The OP6T is well built and does not look bad (apart from the notch), but do not look for extra features.

The OnePlus 6 measures 155.7 x 75.4 x 7.8 mm and weighs 177 grams. It is available in Midnight Black, Mirror Black or Silk White – and there is a difference between the two blacks. The price is $ 529 for the 6GB / 128GB version and $ 550 for the 8GB / 128GB version. The OnePlus 6T measures 157.5 x 74.8 x 8.2 mm and weighs 185 grams.

…And the winner is…

The last word

As much as I would like to crown the Samsung Galaxy S9 the king of this comparison, but I must honestly choose the OnePlus 6T as a winner. I know it only has one FHD + display (that's bigger), but it has more RAM and more standard memory – though it's not extensible – it has the same processor and GPU and a large dual camera area … and the best price you can find for so much phone.

Yes, the Galaxy S9 has a slightly smaller QHD + display and some options not found on the OnePlus 6T, but nothing that justifies the price difference.
