The Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Fabian Picardo, will appear this Wednesday before the European Scrutiny Committee of the House of Commons of the British Parliament to explain the negotiations towards an international treaty between the United Kingdom and the European Union about the future relationship of Gibraltar .

The second round of negotiations between the European Commission and the United Kingdom on the situation in Gibraltar after Brexit took place the second week of November, after a first meeting in Brussels to present the starting points for the negotiation.

After the second round, the only message that was conveyed publicly was the good tone in which they had continued, but no details were given on the course of the negotiation.

This appearance of Picardo before the Commons, in which he will be accompanied by the Attorney General of Gibraltar, Michael Llamas, comes after a meeting of the Chief Minister with the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, Liz Truss, in London, with which the Gibraltarian representative reviewed all the work done together on November 16.

Since the second round of negotiations between the United Kingdom and the European Union (EU), political meetings have intensified in the British environment to find out the status of the negotiations.

And it is that, in addition to the meeting between Truss and Picardo and the appearance of this Wednesday in Parliament, Picardo and the main deputy minister, Joseph Garcia, also met telematically just four days ago with the Multiparty Parliamentary Group for Gibraltar to discuss the matter of the negotiations. This group expressed its support for the Rock in the future.
