Pillars of Faith - an exclusive view of the largest Hindu temple in NJ

On a former site in central Jersey Farmland, there is a unique, exotic, impressive Hindu temple where one can be mentally and visually transported to another world without crossing an ocean.

It is called BAPS Hindu Temple in Robbinsville, officially the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir and was opened in 2014.

Last year, at the age of only three, it was high on the list of World Hindu News. 10 most famous Hindu temples in America.

Michael Mancuso of NJ Advance Media spent some time there to document the intricate designs that were handcrafted from 68,000 cubic feet of Italian marble and shipped to India, where 13,499 unique items were 90% completed by craftsmen.

The individually labeled pieces were then shipped to Robbinsville according to ancient instructions for final modeling and assembly.

This mandir is the only one in the state made entirely of marble.
