When police officers met a 36-year-old man in his car in a parking lot in Bocholt on Wednesday afternoon, they smelled a clear smell of alcohol. A breath alcohol test revealed a value that indicated a blood alcohol concentration of more than four per thousand. This also explains why the 36-year-old had to hold on to his car to avoid falling. A witness alerted the officials at around 1.15 p.m. because the driver was driving very slowly and in clear wavy lines on Up de Welle road. A doctor took a blood sample from the drunk in order to be able to determine the exact blood alcohol level. The officers secured the driver’s license. The Bocholter spent the time until he sobered up in police custody. He will now face criminal prosecution. (db)
