On Sunday (October 2nd), around 4:50 p.m., a 40-year-old man from Bad Hersfeld was driving his Lamborghini sports car on Autobahn 66 in the direction of Frankfurt. Shortly after the Neuhofer Tunnel, he left the roadway for an unknown reason, collided with the guardrail and came to a stop in the left lane. Fortunately, the driver and his 13-year-old passenger from the Hünfeld district were not injured in the accident. The Lamborghini was severely damaged in the accident and had to be towed away. Due to the collision with the crash barrier, parts of it were thrown onto the lane of the A 66 in the direction of Fulda. Two vehicles drove over these parts and were damaged as a result. Luckily no one was injured here either. The total damage caused is estimated at around 110,000 euros.

In addition to a patrol from the Petersberg police motorway station, a patrol from the Neuhof police station, an ambulance and the Neuhof fire brigade were deployed. One lane of the A 66 towards Frankfurt had to be closed for the duration of the accident investigation, which resulted in slight traffic delays. Traffic was diverted to one lane around the scene of the accident.
